SEX

Well, I hope that got your attention!  This is an open letter to Judge Marco Santia of Roseville's 39th District Court, who dismissed a charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct against a man of 38, who three years ago when he was 35, had sex on more than one occasion with a 15 year old.  Judge Marco Santia said that he did not see that there was force or coercion, he felt it was consensual.  The now 19-year-old said that she was an athlete and the defendent worked with her to improve her speed and agility for basketball and track.  The two soon fell in love she said.  He told her he was in it for the long haul and was going to leave his wife, she tried to end the relationship until the divorce but he routinely overpowered her.
Dear Judge,
Why do grown up men take advantage of young girls?  Why do other grown up men say, "Oh she didn't fight, so it was alright"?  Do you know anything about young girls, or do you just want to protect grown up men?  Why is it okay to portray young girls as grown up women?  Why do grown up men like to look at young girls pretending to be grown up women?  Why do some grown up men not like grown up women, but prefer young girls?  I don't know Judge, but if you think that this grown up man had the right to have sex with a young girl, because she believed that he loved her, was going to leave his wife for her, was going to take care of her, than you are in more need of help than the young girl was at the tender age of 15 and you should not be a judge because you are an ass.  If calling you an ass was enough to make things right I would feel better, but it isn't enough and I don't feel good.  You really should be removed from the bench because you are doing harm, shame on you.  Do you have daughters?  I wonder who they are with tonight.  Sleep tight.

Antoher big gap

Well, I have had another big gap in blogging.  I have been very busy at work, and then I got sick.  All I have wanted to do for the last few days is sleep, so that is basically what I have done.  You know what the biggest thing is that I don't get?  Why with all the turmoil in the world, with all the pain people are suffering, with all the needs people have, with all of the stupidity in our government, from federal to state to local, why are we supposed to care about Sandra Bullock and Jessie James?  I'm just asking.  Anyway, this is all I have right now, sorry.  I am making a vow to get back to serious blogging this week!

In the news

Obama promises children better teachers and schools.  There is a new plan to overhaul No Child Left Behind, YEAH I say, but let's not make the same mistake twice.  The first paragraph opens with the statement that President Obama is promising parents and their children that they will have better teachers in improved schools so U.S. students can make up for academic ground lost against youngsters in other countries.  We have to stop comparing ourselves to other countries.  A collective gasp has just been heard I know, but we are not other countries, we are the good ol' U. S. of A. and we educate all of our children in the same public school system.  We do not test them at age nine, ten or eleven, and begin to separate them by ability and then place them into the different schools where they will study the courses that will allow them to pursue the careers the test has determined that they should pursue.  Perhaps we should, but we don't.  A few paragraphs down, this statement; "The proposed changes call for states to adopt standards that ensure students are ready for college or a career rather than stress grade-level proficiency - the focus of the current law."  The good news is that there is the realization that many good and lucrative careers do not require a very expensive four, five,or six year degree, but perhaps Vocational  Ed in high school, then trade school, an apprenticeship, an internship, or a combination upon graduation.  The bad news is schools are still being asked to fulfill the role of parent.  Schools can provide the instruction necessary to ready individuals for study beyond high school, but schools can not produce responsible, accountable adults ready to take on the enormous responsibility of living life after leaving high school, that is the job of family.  I think schools should have a role in this and at one time did, but now telling students what they can or can't do brings in advocates, lawyers, the NAACP, and THE PARENTS!  Administration can deal with the advocates, lawyers, the NAACP, but do not want to deal with the parents!  Kids know they do not have to tow the line, learn the lesson, produce the product, or give a damn, so they don't.  Not pretty I know, but true.  Next paragraph in the article speaks to the math requirements, and if I was a parent of a student due to graduate in 2011, I would have my lawyer on speed dial, enough said about that.  And I love that Arne Duncan says the name No Child Left Behind will be dropped because it is associated with a harsh law that punishes schools for not reaching benchmarks even if they've made other gains.  It is being dropped because it was an inane name and concept to begin with.  If you as a parent do not expect your child to follow rules that YOU have for them, like when they can go out and when they must be home, what chores they will do around the house, when homework hours will take place, how they can dress, how they will speak to adults, how they will treat their peers, and what they can watch on TV; if you don't help them navigate their world by helping them problem solve, expecting them to reach solutions, or suffer the consequences when they don't, THEY WILL BE LEFT BEHIND and there is nothing the school they attend can do about it.  And enough said about that!

Commercials and other things.

I have been meaning to ask about the Healthy Choice  commercial with Julia Louise-Dreyfus. She takes a frozen dinner out of her freezer and in a deadpan voice, as if reading from a script, touts its laurels. Her friend, Jane Lynch, (movie actress also), says something about Julia sounding like a spokesperson, to which Julia replies she has been asked to be the spokesperson. So Jane says "You're not going to are you?" and Julia says something like no, I really shouldn't. Then Jane asks if the company is going to pay her and Julia lets it be known that it could be a lucrative gig, so Jane says she should do it and Julia agrees. Now, I am going to go out and buy a product that the spokesperson has just told me that she is speaking highly about it because she is being paid big bucks to do it? No, I don't think so, and I don't get how a bunch of advertising people sat around and tossed this idea about and said "Wow, this will sell our product!"  Since this is longer than I intended, I will save the other things until tomorrow or the next day. It has become obvious that I am not blogging everyday. I am writing everyday, however, just not here. Take care, have a good night, and don't believe everything you see on TV.  Oh and I had put a  picture here, and it was here, but now it's not; don't get it!

Kick Ass the movie

Watch any of the trailers and tell me if you get it because I don't.  The trailer for Kick Ass - Hit Girl, shows a little girl saying to her father, "I'm just fuckin with ya daddy."  Then it shows her dressed in a tight super hero costume and she says "Okay cunt, (I don't even know what she says after that, my brain exploded!).  When I saw this I didn't think it could be real, I mean not a real movie, just someone goofing around.  But it is a real move and it is coming to theaters near you in April.  I am trying to figure out who the makers of this film intended it for.  No adult, that being anyone over 18, in their right mind would want to sit through this piece of  shit, yes shit.  I can't imagine anyone over 14 being interested in this piece of shit, yes shit.  If the people who took part in the making of this movie, felt it would be something for 10 to 14 year-olds, well shame on them.  Actually more than shame on them, they should all be banned from ever having anything to do with movie making again!  It is full of foul language and extreme violence and it is anything but cool.  No I haven't seen the whole movie, the trailers are enough to let me know that I don't want to, and that no one should pay money to see what really is a piece of shit intended to lure young, impressionable children into movie theaters to be told that being a superhero is awesome!  I would like to think that no movie theater would play this, yes I have to say it because that is really what it is, piece of shit, that would be awesome!

A long time since blogging

Well, I can't believe that I haven't blogged since last Wednesday!  So much for doing it everyday, and for not making the same mistake twice.  Oh well, it isn't like there hasn't been fabulous things to not get, and to blog about.  So I will make this short and sweet, because I need to watch Lost and then go to sleep.  I don't get why there are so few of us left with any common sense, people who can look at a situation, think about it, and then make a decision that "MAKES SENSE!"  Nuff said, go figure.  If the smart ruled, I would be King!
